The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the Admit Card for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026. Candidates who successfully qualified in the Preliminary Examination are eligible to sit for the Mains Exam. A total of 1,056 vacancies will be filled across prestigious civil services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other Group 'A' and Group 'B' central government posts.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or Institution.
  • Only candidates who have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 and submitted the Detailed Application Form (DAF-I) are eligible to appear for the Mains Examination.

Age Limit (As on August 1, 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 32 Years
  • Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rules:

The UPSC Civil Services Recruitment involves a rigorous three-stage selection process to select top candidates for Indian Administrative and Central Services:

  1. Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) – Screening Test (Completed).
  2. Stage 2: Mains Examination (Written/Descriptive Type) – Consists of 9 papers designed to test deep academic and analytical capability.
