NTA UGC NET December 2026 Online Application Form
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official notification for the University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2026 Session. UGC NET is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for 'Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and appointment as Assistant Professor', 'Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.', and 'Admission to Ph.D. only' in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Application Fee
The application fee can be paid online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI payment gateways.
- General / Unreserved: ₹1,150/-
- General-EWS / OBC-NCL: ₹600/-
- SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender: ₹325/-
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Applications, Electronic Science, etc.
- Candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / PwD / Third Gender categories require a minimum of 50% marks in their Master’s degree.
- Appearing Candidates: Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course, or candidates who have appeared for their final year examination and whose result is awaited, are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally.
- Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination was completed by 19th September 1991 shall be eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%).
2. Age Limit & Relaxation
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Not more than 30 years as of the first day of the month in which the examination is concluded (i.e., 01.12.2026).
- Age relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender categories, and Women applicants.
- Relaxation is also provided for candidates with LL.M. degree (3 years) or research experience.
- Assistant Professor / Admission to Ph.D.: No upper age limit.
Scheme of Examination & Selection Process
The UGC NET December 2026 examination will be conducted entirely in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The test consists of two papers, both comprising objective-type, multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Key Marking Features:
- Each question carries 2 (Two) marks.
- There is NO negative marking for incorrect responses.
- Questions will be bilingual (English & Hindi), except for language subjects.

ugcnet.nta.ac.in. - New Registration: Click on the link "UGC NET December 2026 Registration". Enter basic personal details, email ID, and mobile number to generate your Application Number and Password.
- Fill Application Form: Log in using your Application Number and Password. Fill in your personal details, educational qualifications, exam center preferences, and select your NET subject.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph (with 80% face visible against a white background) and signature in the prescribed JPEG/JPG format.
- Pay Application Fee: Select the payment gateway and pay the requisite fee according to your category via Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
